Needful Things :

Dom Perignon Rose 2000

Dom Perignon Rose 2000

Dom Rose is like Optimus Prime – greater than the sum of his parts, and his parts are the shizzle. And rarer than an eskimo in a leotard.

Regions: Champagne, France
Bottle volume: 750mL
Closure: Cork
Vintage: 2000

Tasting Notes
Colour
The wine’s surprising color is deep and strong, glinting with amber and copper. The amazing paradox is that this rosé wine is never really pink. It owes the depths of its almost Oriental highlights to its unique hues.

Nose
The first floral notes immediately give way to black cherry and candied citrus peel, complemented by cocoa and a few smoky accents.

Palate
The flawless construction achieves a perfect classicism on the palate, dominated by a sensation of balance, consistency and integration. The wine has a surprisingly brilliant and fleshy fruitiness. Its initial solidity becomes more tactile and finally sappy, with a subtly bittersweet note.

Winemaking Notes
Vintage
The year 2000 was warm, with cooler-than-average temperatures in the month of July and frequent storms that brought significant amounts of rain and hail. The initial tastings revealed that the Chardonnay grapes harvested last were supple, ample and complex; the Pinot Noir harvest was structured and offered great length. In contrast to prior vintages, a qualitative homogeneity was found in the two grape varieties harvested, conferring on Dom Pérignon Rosé Vintage 2000 its well-defined classical balance.
